An Khe at one time was a very large heliport. While I was there, only the POL was left. Hwy #19 went through a narrow winding pass here, which was the only way to get to the coast and Hwy #1. In May and April of 1972 the pass was take by the NVA. There was a lot of fighting during this time. We were flying on the command ship when I took these pictures, that is why they are from higher altitude.
